Upon completing this course, the dental professional should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the following:

- Outline the scope of a dental practice, including dentists and auxiliary staff.
- Explain licensing requirements for dental professionals and the procedures and policies for license renewal.
- Review procedures for citations and the associated fines the Dental Board of California may assess.
- Highlight Dental Practice Act violations and unprofessional conduct that may result in license revocation and suspension.
- Review the procedures and policies for license renewal and for reinstating a suspended or revoked license.
- Know the guidelines for prescriptions and dissemination of controlled substances.
- Reinforce permit requirements for administering general anesthesia, moderate conscious sedation, and oral conscious sedation for adult patients and minors.
- Understand the obligation to report suspected abuse and neglect of elder and dependent adults and children and the clinical signs to look for.
